On November 9th, 2012, James asked Sasha to be his girlfriend and on the exact same date seven years later they decided to wed in Los Cabos.
When Sasha announced to her parents she was engaged they were both extremely happy as they loved James. Sasha was raised in California and her dad, Larry, always thought she would have a Western wedding so it came as a surprise to him when Sasha expressed the wish to host a lavish traditional Indian wedding of 3 days.
We met Sasha’s parents a bit over a year before the big day to start the planning by looking at a resort to host the beautiful occasion. A couple of months later we met the sweet bride Sasha so we could tour the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos the chosen resort for the big weekend.
Sasha wanted the whole traditional wedding with a welcome party, a Mehndi, a Sangeet, a Puja ceremony, a lavish Hindu ceremony, and a reception. But there was one thing really important to Sasha and her family and it was to still unknowledge James’ family culture so they opt for a western ceremony in addition to the Indian one and the father of the groom will officiate to make it extra special.
So Mj and Elsa our planners spent countless hours making sure this 250 -guest dream wedding was coming to life!
The main goal was for the guests to have an unforgettable time throughout the entire stay in Cabo with good food including Indian cuisine and drinks.
The photography and the overall esthetic of all the events were also extremely important to them so they brought one of LA best photographers: Lin & Jirsa Photography. Kim, Sasha’s mother, came regularly to Cabo from Los Angeles to make decisions with Mazarte Floral for the flower design and Del Cabo Event Design for the rental equipment.
To beautify Sasha for each event, they hired the talented international makeup artist Natasha Moor. She, by her expertise and with the help of her hairstylist, created unique and flawless looks for Sasha daily.
The bride and groom arrived a couple of days prior to their guests’ arrival to make sure they were all set and relax a little. Sasha took the opportunity to get her Mehndi done so she could spend more time with her family and friends when in Cabo. Indeed bridal henna can last between 3 to 6 hours depending on the complexity of the design. So we brought one of our favorite Mexico based henna artist: Habibah.
The festivities started with a welcome dinner, for the couple and their parents to greet all their guests to Los Cabos, followed by an after-party! The tone for the weekend was set, there would be a lot of partying and to insure the dancefloor will never be empty they brought 3D Sounds Indian Dj based in California. For their first night, the couple had chosen a matching design to wear from Manish Malhotra World renowned lehenga and sherwani designer. We kept that evening decor simple yet elegant using sequins navy blue linens and silver touches as we did have several functions to follow and the secret behind a successful Southasian wedding decor is to always go crescendo, bringing the guests to the lavish wedding day!
The following morning an intimate religious ceremony was arranged for the closed family members at one of the Hyatt Ziva’s salons. Afterward, we arranged a Mendhi pool party with a station-style lunch. We had henna artists taking care of all the guests, men included, and they all had fun with their unique tattoo designs! The bride and groom wore yet again matching Vann printed outfits designed by Shivan & Narresh, famous New Delhi luxury swim and resort wear designers. This function design was in the same color tones as the couple outfits with aqua, orangy-coral, and yellow accents to keep it fun and fresh!
That night the couple hosted their Sangeet, a traditional function for all Indian weddings where family members and friends perform special dances or songs for the newlyweds to be. For the decor of the ballroom, we went for the traditional warm color palette in hot pink, orange, and gold. As guests were entering the ballroom we had Dhol players receiving them to make them feel very special! The same performers escorted Sasha and James for their grand entrance. James surprised everyone in the audience, in particular his bride-to-be, with an epic Indian performance choreographed by Sasha’s cousin himself Amit Nagrani. For that evening, they chose another stunning design from Manish Malhotra World collection. They all partied late that night reason why we chose the ballroom for venue as there was no time restriction.
The next day was the wedding day! It started with a Puja ceremony followed by the traditional Hindu ceremony around midday next to the pool with a stunning Mandap design with custom gold fabric with red flowers. The fabric was actually specially brought by the mother of the bride herself! Our team of planners assisted her with the shopping process to ensure it would work perfectly with the design and it came out fabulous! For this ceremony, Sasha was stunning in her gold and red Sabyasachi‘s lehenga, she actually felt like “An Indian Princess” in her own words, and James wore a gold Sherwani with matching safa by Rohitbal.
After the traditional Indian celebration, the bridal party went and change for the traditional Western ceremony. We had designed an all-white decor with blush and light pink flowers as the bride wanted it to be very romantic. The father of the groom officiating made it really emotional. The ceremony was followed by a cocktail in the foyer of the ballroom before inviting the guests to the formal reception.
The reception was designed following the same romantic inspiration from Sasha with gold and blush accent. The bride and groom danced the traditional first dance, the father and daughter’s dance, the mother and son’s dance, they had a 3-tier cake cutting and some very sentimental speeches! The party continued until late at night as it was the last night with their guests, some coming from far away to share these special moments!
